Credit Rating
Without an acceptable rating by a globally recognized MFI rating agency, no funding institution will touch an MFI. We work with you to ensure that your institution secures good ratings from at least one of the world's most recognized MFI rating agencies. Under this module:
- We conduct a mock assessment exercise using global best practices to ensure that your organization is ready before the rating agency arrives. This approach makes the live assessment exercise less expensive and more efficient for you, and the rating agency leaves with a much more positive impression of your bank
- We prepare your in-house team for engagement with the rating agency during the live assessment to achieve optimal results
Growth Finance
You can leverage our global network to source equity and debt finance to grow your MFI. We will introduce you to local and global institutions with ample investment funds targeted at the microfinance sector.
We work with you to develop an attractive proposal targeted at both local and international providers of capital. The steps include:
- Determining an optimal capital structure that meets your corporate objectives in terms of how much capital your business requires, the optimal mix of equity and debt and how to retain control of your business.
- Short-listing the right type of investment partners to approach, taking cognizance of theor values and investment objectives
- Developing an investment prospectus targeted at the identified target investors
- Guiding you through the legal and regularoty maze of actualizing your capital raising objectives
We can also help you access INTEREST-FREE funds from offshore investors for on-lending to your customers.
Technical Assistance Grants
Our experience is that the small businesses who need professional services most can ill afford to pay market rates for them. We have therefore joined a network of international professional service providers to support the development of African MFIs. The program makes money available to absorb 50% of the cost of technical improvement projects.
